Can you tell a good story?

Do people believe you even when you are making things up?

Can you entertain a room full of people?

Well this is what the 7 best story tellers from the Toastmasters clubs in Surrey are going to be doing next week, on Wednesday June 22nd at the Mole Valley Speaker’s Club, held in the Great Hall ( http://www.apmh.org.uk/).

Even if you aren’t interested in learning more about public speaking, getting promoted faster or having fun - then this event is still for you as we all love a good story.  Don’t we?

Each of the 7 clubs in Surrey, Woking, Camberley, Farnham, Guildford, London Borough of Merton, Epsom and Mole Valley will be putting forward their club champion to compete.  It is the Champion’s league final of telling porky pies.

I will be there watching and learning from some of the great speakers and being well entertained.  The great stories stick in your mind years after the event; Martin Berry talking about cats from movies, Lucinda Slater with giant birds everywhere, and David Jones with crazy stories of trekking through the jungle and an incredible German accent!

This is an event you have to be at.  Wednesday June 22nd at 19:15 at http://www.apmh.org.uk/

This fabulous event is hosted by http://www.molevalleyspeakers.org.uk/ and is free for all to attend

See you there.

Alan

PS what is a tall tale??

A tall tale is a story with unbelievable elements, related as if it were true and factual. Some such stories are exaggerations of actual events, for example fish stories (‘the fish that got away’) such as, “that fish was so big, why I tell ya’, it nearly sank the boat when I pulled it in!” Other tall tales are completely fictional tales set in a familiar setting, such as the European countryside, the American Old West or the beginning of the Industrial Age.
