What makes a great presenter?
Every day millions of people around the world give presentations. How many have you sat through that have been truly inspiring? How many have just not hit the mark?
The truth is, most presenters are simply just average – and others are simply terrible. But among the crowds of presenters there are usually a few people who stand out from the rest as someone who really connects with the audience.
So what makes the difference between a presenter and a great presenter?
In connection with our upcoming book, Enjoy Presenting, we interviewed several people in our network to get their opinion on what makes for a great presenter. All of these people all have some connection to presentations, either by being a great presenter, training others in how to present, using presentations as part of their job, or having been trained in giving presentations.
Over the next couple of months, we will be running a series on great presenters, and each week you will able to read about the experiences, tips and accomplishments each of these persons have had in connection with giving presentations.
So what is in it for you?
If you want to improve your presentation skills, close more sales, find out more about giving great presentations and the benefits they can have on you or your company, or simply just have a good read, then this just for you. The article will include tips on how to overcome nerves, how to become better at presenting, and how to utilise your presentation skills in a profitable way.
We will also have some special feature blog posts incorporated into the series, where we compare different results from across all interviews, as well as highlights of key learning outcomes. These blog posts will include:
- The most innovative ways of earning money from speaking
- The most important elements of a presentation

Our first featured interviewee is going to be Alan Donegan:
Alan has had an amazing experience with speaking and giving presentations, and it has had such a great impact on him that he started this company, Enjoy Presenting, to help other people overcome their fear of presenting and make it a part of work which people enjoy rather than hate. For more about Alan’s experience as a speaker, presenter and trainer, read our blog next week.
